What is this training about?

5 live online sessions

Our E-Academy contains 5 live online sessions in which we will focus on how to optimise the efficiency of your heating and cooling installations.

First session completely free

Each session takes 2 hours during which 1 or more Hysopt specialists will talk about the interesting world of hydronics. To show we’re serious about educating the HVAC-sector, we are organising the first session free of charge, including a temporary license and support from our consultants. If you’ve always wanted to try out the Hysopt software and put it to a test, this is your chance!

New Content:
Application of Hydronics

With the new format, we are also redeveloping the content we bring. Taking into account the feedback of our ‘alumni’, we are focusing more on the application of hydronics rather than the theory of hydronics. We will use the Hysopt software as a didactic tool to bring you this content but the training is not a software training in itself.

Live support

Every theory session will be followed by an exercise session during which you can ask questions around the exercises provided. These sessions are optional and mostly for those who are planning to get hands-on with the Hysopt software.

Session 1 | 18/11 | 14:00-16:00 CET | Optimising heat distribution by choosing the correct hydraulic configuration (FREE)

Session 1 will focus on the distribution of heat and how the hydraulic configuration of this distribution system will impact the performance of the system. It’s easy to get excited about hybrid plantrooms with low carbon heat sources and smart control systems but none of the anticipated decarbonisation will be achieved if the basics of the installation are incorrect. Whilst this might seem elementary to most M&E designers, we still see a poor hydraulic configuration on most of the projects we get involved in. Getting this right should always be the first step in the decarbonisation of the heating and cooling installation and offers the best return on investment.

Session 2 | 25/11 | 14:00-16:00 CET | Designing hybrid plantrooms with CHP and boiler: unwrapping the full potential of a CHP for your heating installation (Conceptual/Advanced)

Having optimised many CHP installations with the Hysopt software, we want to spread this knowledge to the sector as we feel there are lots more CHP installation still to be optimised. Whilst CHP is only a transition technology towards a net-zero buildings, it would be a shame not to get the most out of these assets.

Session 3 | 02/12 | 14:00-16:00 CET | Designing hybrid plantrooms with heat pumps and boilers, optimising low-grade and high-grade heat (Conceptual/Advanced)

This session will discuss the use of low temperature heat sources with heat pumps for heating and hot water. More importantly, we will discuss how to integrate these low temperature heat sources in new and existing systems and get the optimal performance from these. We notice that most heat pumps are integrated similarly to a gas boiler or CHP, applying old concepts of integrating high temperature heat sources. A correct hydraulic integration can make the difference in receiving cost-effective heat from the heat pump and expensive heat or no heat at all.

Session 4 | 09/12 | 14:00-16:00 CET | Unlocking the potential of heating installations in existing buildings (Technical/Advanced)

In the race towards net-zero buildings, we should not forget the existing building stock. In this session we will dive into lots of marginal gains to be made in close-to-all existing installations. All this to make better use of the existing assets which might still be good enough for another 10-20 years of reliable service and make them ready to adopt low-carbon heat sources. This will be the most applied session so you will take lots of key learnings with you for your next project.

Session 5 | 16/12 | 14:00-16:00 | Making the right choices when designing heat networks and communal heating systems with HIU’s (*Conceptual/Advanced)

A collective approach for heating residential homes often makes sense to put waste heat to a good use and deploy other low carbon heat sources. A common solution here is to distribute the heat throughout a heat network feeding HIU’s in these homes.

During this session we will explain how designing an HIU system is different to a traditional heating system. We will touch upon the basics as well as a couple of small but important details which can make or break the performance of such a system.
