  • Hysopt license for didactical purposes (only in order to make the exercises we gave) during the duration of these sessions, ending 3 weeks after the last session

In this session we discuss how the Hysopt software disrupts the status quo of designing HVAC-installations. The Hysopt software is all about bringing transparency and unlocking hidden performance potential. With an extensive software demonstration we will explain the workflow of our software to optimise HVAC-installations. You will notice that this software will be helpful from the very beginning of your project, helping you in making the right choices, all the way to delivering this performance.

Session 3 | 29/07 | 14:00-16:00 CEST | Optimising heat distribution by static and dynamic balancing: getting the basics right (Conceptual/Basic & Technical/basic)

Session 3 will focus on the distribution of heat and will discuss the need for hydraulic balancing as well as provide you the some much needed background on hydraulic circuits as to know how to combine these for an optimal working system. It’s easy to get excited about hybrid plantrooms with low carbon heat sources and smart control systems but none of the anticipated decarbonisation will be achieved if the basics of the installation are incorrect. Whilst this might seem basic to most M&E designers, we still see a poor hydraulic balance on most of the projects we get involved in. Getting this right should always be the first step in the decarbonisation of the heating and cooling installation and offers the best return on investment.

Having optimised many CHP installations with the Hysopt software, we want to spread this knowledge to the sector as we feel there are lots more CHP installation still to be optimised. Whilst CHP is only a transition technology towards a net-zero buildings, it would be a shame not to get the most out of these assets.

Session 5 | 12/08 | 14:00-16:00 | Designing hybrid plantrooms with heat pumps and boilers, optimising low-grade and high-grade heat (Conceptual/Advanced)

Session 5 will discuss the use of low temperature heat sources with heat pumps for heating and hot water. More importantly, we will discuss how to integrate these low temperature heat sources in new and existing systems and get the optimal performance from these. We notice that most heat pumps are integrated similarly to a gas boiler or CHP, applying old concepts of integrating high temperature heat sources. A correct hydraulic integration can make the difference in receiving cost-effective heat from the heat pump and expensive heat or no heat at all.

Session 6 | 26/08 | 14:00-16:00 | Making the right choices when designing heat networks and communal heating systems with HIU’s (Conceptual/Advanced)

In the race towards net-zero buildings, a collective approach for heating residential homes often makes sense to put waste heat to a good use and deploy other low carbon heat sources. A common solution here is to distribute the heat throughout a heat network feeding HIU’s in these homes. During this session we will explain how designing an HIU system is different to a traditional heating system. We will touch upon the basics as well as a couple of small but important details which can make or break the performance of such a system.

In many of the retrofit projects that Hysopt gets involved, the experience of our consultants and the power of the Hysopt software can generate pump savings of up 95%. In this session we will give away these secrets and make you realise that there is much more saving to be made than a simple pump replacement if you also tackle full hydraulic system.
