As a result of the proposed changes to the future treatment of district heating systems in SAP, together with the recent introduction of SAP10 carbon factors by the GLA for all new schemes, there is a clear drive towards lowering the operating temperature in district heating schemes in order to reduce thermal distribution losses and apply heat pump technology.

However, this shift from 3th to 4th generation district heating systems brings several hydraulic consequences which should be taken into account carefully to ensure systems are able to return the economic and carbon saving efficiencies they promise.

In this webinar Roel Vandenbulcke, Hysopt founder and CTO, will point out the hydraulic and control technical aspects to be taken into account when designing 4th generation district heating schemes and emphasises the impact on the overall system efficiency.

  • From 3th to 4th generation district heating
  • Pipe sizing and trade-off between pump energy and thermal losses
  • Hydraulic design of the energy centre CHP/boiler, heatpump/boiler
  • Design and optimisation with the Hysopt software
