Hysopt Appoints New CTO to Support Next Phase of Growth

After eight years of impact, Kristof Smits passes the CTO role to Joa Oris as Hysopt accelerates its international growth and innovation in HVAC system design.

Hysopt is entering its next phase of growth, marked by a transition in its technology leadership.

After eight impactful years, Hysopt’s CTO Kristof Smits is starting a new chapter.

During this time, Hysopt evolved from a Belgian start-up into an internationally recognised platform in HVAC technology. Under Kristof’s technical leadership, the company expanded globally, received industry recognition such as the CIBSE Innovation Award, and established strategic partnerships, including with Autodesk.

His contribution laid the technical foundation on which Hysopt continues to build.

A leadership transition aligned with growth

As Hysopt enters this next phase, Joa Oris has been appointed Chief Technology Officer.

Having been a key part of the Hysopt R&D team for several years, Joa brings deep expertise in software, physics, and HVAC system behaviour. His work has directly contributed to the development of Hysopt’s platform and its underlying simulation capabilities.

This transition ensures continuity in technology leadership, while reinforcing Hysopt’s ability to execute on its next stage of platform development and international expansion.

“I’m excited to build on the strong foundation in place and to further strengthen our technology as we scale globally," says Joa Oris.

Strengthening Hysopt’s position in HVAC system intelligence

With Joa stepping into the CTO role, Hysopt continues to build on its strong technical foundation while accelerating its focus on simulation-driven HVAC design and optimisation.

Today, the platform is used by engineering firms, contractors, and developers on complex projects across international markets — reflecting a growing shift toward system-level design and performance.

Building on this momentum, Hysopt is expanding its platform with deeper integrations, enhanced simulation and artificial intelligence capabilities, strengthening its position as the system intelligence layer for HVAC design.

Looking ahead

With a strong technical foundation and aligned leadership, Hysopt continues to scale its platform, expand its international footprint, and strengthen its position as a category leader in HVAC system design and optimisation.
